Game 1: Backwoods comes out storming as they roll over Vermont 8-1 in the opener. Shortstop Travis Jackson went 4 for 5 with 3 runs and 4 RBIs. Pie Traynor and Oscar Charleston each added three hits. Joltin' Joe DiMaggio's HR was the only Socialist run. Randy Johnson gets the win, only allowing three hits while striking out eleven.
Game 2: The Bastards hold off the Socialists for a 6-3 victory. Hank Aaron and Luis Santop homer for Backwoods. Don Sutton gets the win, allowing only 7 hits and 3 runs. Pud Galvin takes the loss. Bastards up two games to none.
Game 3: Old Hoss Radbourn outduels Big Bill Foster as Vermont earns a narrow 3-2 victory to ge their first win of the series. Babe Ruth hits two homers and drives in three runs. Backwoods still leads the series 2 to 1.
Game 4: Vermont holds a 4-3 win going into the bottom of the 8th, but the Bastards run up three runs in that frame to take the game 6-4. Wee Willie Keeler had 3 hits and drove in 2. Roger Connor and Jackie Robinson each added 2 hits for Backwoods. The Bastards take a 3-1 lead in the series.
Game 5: Pud Galvin and Don Sutton square off for a pitcher's duel. Backwoods scored in the bottom of the first to take the early 1-0 lead, but Vermont came right back with a run in the top of the second to tie it 1-1. Backwoods scratched out a run in the bottom of the second and no one would score the rest of the night. Final is 2-1 Backwoods, and the Bastards are your American League champions!
