Days 111-120: Vermont rises to the top in the American! Yukon and Bad Axe deadlocked!

 Vermont gains some ground in the American League, now holding a 2 game lead over the Backwoods Bastards.  Backwoods is comfortably in second place, seven games ahead of Pottersville and Aliquippa.  Bad Axe goes 7-3 this stretch to move into a first place tie with Yukon in the National League, making up a three game deficit.  Windy City had a nice stretch, also going 7-3.   

We will award the coveted Players of the Block Awards to Yukon's Turkey Stearnes   (12-25, .480), and Mar-a-Lago's Big Ed Delahanty (.348, 9 RBIs).  Other fine performances were turned in by the Windy City duo of Carlton Fisk (.333, 4 HRs) and Leon Day (3 saves, 0 earned runs in 8 innings).

Lesser performances were turned in by Backwoods hurler Sandy Koufax, Babe Ruth (.231, 0 HRs), and Joe Morgan (.000) of Bad Axe.

Day 111:  Yukon gets past Pohdunkville 5-3, Cristobel Torriente's three hits helping Cy Young earn his 10th win.  Windy City shuts out Verona Ridge 7-0, with Big Ed Walsh getting the shutout.  Mel Ott's three hits lead Pottersville over Vermont 5-4.  Mar-a-Lago tops Backwoods 8-6, Paul Molitor and Willie Wells each contributed 2 hits.  .

Day 112:  Another big day by Ken Griffey Jr. whose two homers among four hits pushed Mar-a-Lago over Backwoods 13-4.  Pohdunkville over Yukon 7-4, Cool Papa Bell and Nap Lajoie go yard.  WIndy City uses two Carlton Fisk HRs to beat Verona Ridge 3-2.  Vermont continues to pound the ball as Eddie Mathews, Johnny "Big Cat" Mize, and Al Simmons all homer., Socialists beat the Misers 5-2.  

Day 113:  Aliquippa's Pedro Martinez blanks Bad Axe on 5 hits.   Vermont belts three more homers (Al Simmons, Eddie Mathews, and Joe Cronin) in a 12-6 win over Verona Ridge.  It's Windy City 5,  Pohdunkville 2 as Bert Blyleven outpitches Lefty Grove.  Potterville 12 over Mar-a-Lago 6, big night for Hack Wilson (3-4, 2 HRs, 3 runs, 4 RBIs).  The Bastards top the Polar Bears 8-6, Mule Suttles has three hits and drives in five. 

Day 114:  Smokey Joe Williams earns his league-leading 15th win  as he three-hits Aliquippa, final is Bad Axe 3, Aliquippa 1.  Verona Ridge beats Vermont 6-2, Billy Williams with a homer and four RBIs.  Windy City gets by Pohdunkville 6-5 when Andre Dawson cracked a three-run walk-off homer off of Burleigh Grimes.  The Misogynists trounce the Misers 11-5, as the top three Mar-a-Lago batters (Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins, and Big Ed Delahanty each had three hits.  Earl Averill knocks in the winning run as Backwoods edges Yukon 5-4.

Day 115:  Tom Seaver of Bad Axe shuts out Aliquippa on 4 hits, Lou Gehrig hits his 25th homer and brings in three runs.  Vermont gets a two run homer from Joe Cronin in the top of the 13th to get past Verona Ridge 4-2,  The Doobies' Hank Greenberg has a monster day (3-5, HR, 4 RBis) in their 7-6 win over the Pounders.  Pottersville 5-4 over Mar-a-Lago, Eddie Plank and Bob Feller limiting the damage from the powerful Misogynist lineup.  Yukon gets 2 hits each from their bottom four hitters (Paul Waner, Cristobel Torriente, Red Schoendienst, and Earle Combs) to get by Backwoods 5-3

Day 116:  Bad Axe gets a walkoff homer from Lou Gehrig to beat Windy City 4-2,  Backwoods rips the Misers 9-3, Mule Suttles continued his hot streak with 4 more base hits. 

Day 117:  Big days  for Cap Anson and Ted Williams (three hits each) as the Misers turn back the Bastards by a score of 11-4.  Bad Axe hangs on for a 6-5 win over Windy City.  The Lumberjacks scored all of their six runs in the first inning!  

Day 118:  Bert Blyleven moves to 10-5 for the season as Windy City edges Bad Axe 3-2.     Pottersville's Pop Lloyd has three hits as they beat Backwoods 7-4.

Day 119:  Another fine outing by Smokey Joe Williams puts Bad Axe over Yukon 4-1.  Mike "King" Kelly went 5 for 5 for the Lumberjacks.  Harmon Killebrew's four hits paced Pohdunkville, 6-3 winners over Aliquippa.  Mar-a-Lago 6-3 over Backwood, every Misogynist gets at least one hit. Windy City gets six home runs to wallop Verona Ridge 13-2.   Vermont's Tim Keefe holds the Misers to just 4 hits in a 3-1 Socialist win. 

Day 120:  Vermont gets past Pottersville 6-4, Charlie Gehringer has three hits, two HRs, two runs, and two RBIs.   Yukon edges Bad Axe 4-3, Ray Dandridge had three hits.  Pohdunkville ekes by  Aliquippa 7-6 with Arky Vaughn driving in two runs in the top of the 9th.  Mar-a-Lago wallops Backwoods 14-4, Harry Heilmann, Ken Griffey Jr, Willie Wells, and Roy Campanella contribute home runs.  Verona Ridge squeaks past Windy City  5-4, Steve Carlton earned his 11th victory.
